Q: If Triple-P Pellets contain all the nutrients my birds need, why do you recommend feeding a small amount of other foods?

A: Parrots kept in captivity come from a wide variety of geographical locations. Common sense would dictate therefore that some may have slightly different dietary requirements. For example, parrots that come from desert areas would require less fresh fruit than birds coming tropical rain forests. It is doubtful that exact dietary requirements will ever be established for every species of parrot being kept in captivity, but that is not really necessary to maintain them in good health. Also, many species of parrots begin breeding in the wild when an abundance of foods become available, for instance during or just after the rainy season. Certain fresh foods, provided in addition to Triple-P Pellets when you want your birds to go nest, can provide the same sort of psychological stimulus.
